EDIT.
by Linde Freya Tangelder

Introducing Linde Freya Tangelder, whose work exists in the space where architecture, materiality, and intuition meet. Born in the Netherlands and influenced by her family’s connection to Brazil, she moved to Belgium shortly after graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven. In 2015, she founded Destroyers/Builders, a name that reflects her ongoing fascination with deconstruction and reconstruction — a way of thinking that continues to shape her approach to objects, spaces, and exhibitions.

Working across metal, wood, glass, plaster, and textile, Tangelder approaches each material as a source of discovery. The interaction between process, craftsmanship, and material behaviour continually opens new directions, making experimentation an essential part of her work. Her time at Studio Campana in São Paulo further deepened this sensibility, reinforcing an appreciation for material expression that echoes her Brazilian roots.

From collectible objects to immersive installations, Tangelder moves fluidly between scales and disciplines. Her connection with KASSL Editions began through a series of spatial installations for Paris Fashion Week and Liberty London, reflecting a shared appreciation for form, tactility, and thoughtfully composed environments.

Item

“The Original hip lacquer wool honey. This color is really interesting, as it has a touch of orange while often appearing more burgundy. The texture is equally intriguing: the high-gloss lacquer is not only sleek on the surface but also features subtle wrinkles and variations. I can't wait to see how it will look as it ages and develops even more character.”

Artwork

“I got to learn about Franz West when I had my first freelance job at the Middelheim Museum, Antwerp, giving tours through the sculpture park. Loved this museum; the works of Franz West & Per Kirkeby were my favorites. Both tactile, human, and surprising to me. Now the Diwan sofa is a different aspect of West's work, ‘ordinary’ in how it appears, but very consistent with how he continued to make them in parallel with his pronounced artwork. Here, seen below in the Beyeler Museum, Basel, another very inspiring place.”

Seat

“My handcrafted Remould series, made from Belgian linen and plaster, which I am currently working on, is the first seat I am thinking of right now.”

Building

“São Paulo holds a special place for me. I completed my internship in this city with the Campana Brothers and, in my free time, became fascinated by the work of Lina Bo Bardi.

Lina Bo Bardi is deeply intertwined with São Paulo, and the Glass House, where she lived with her partner, is a remarkable example of her architectural vision. Yet what impresses me most is the impact of SESC Pompeia. This cultural centre truly succeeds in functioning as a place for every citizen, transcending social and economic boundaries. It is a powerful example of what architecture and public space can achieve, and an inspiration for every city and architect.”

Texture

“Wax Wall Lights are made in the studio with wax, a flexible and intuitive material, working with different textures, then cast in the foundry in white bronze, as seen below. Several wall and desk lights have been developed over the years.”

Magazine

“Apartamento. Inspires me to be more myself in the daily. And to express it more.”

Shelter

“My studio space in Asse, near Brussels, is my shelter, the place where my work comes together in fragments, all within one space.”
