by Middernacht & Alexander

Sofie Middernacht (1985, BE) and Maarten Alexander (1990, NL) are a renowned artistic duo exploring intimacy, voyeurism, and the psychological nuances of daily life. They use materials that decay or oxidize, creating tension between preservation and deterioration. Their series "How I Got Over" repurposes old Belgian diesel tanks, transforming corrosion into functional art with unique epoxy and pigment finishes. Known for pushing artistic boundaries, their work provokes thought and emotion, leaving a lasting impact on the art world.

You will find some objects designed by Middernacht+Alexander at the TRETORNXKASSL Pop Up in Amsterdam until mid-December, 2024.

“We both chose the KASSL Original rubber coat, and the Anchor crossbody: where sleek design meets practicality. Minimalist lines and a waterproof finish, perfect for us who like their style clean and effortless and spend a lot of time outdoors.”

“Mark Rothko. He is celebrated for his ability to evoke deep emotions through his use of color and form—it's a level of artistry one can only aspire to achieve. We used to frequent the room with his works in Tate Modern when we were living in London.”
